What if the item I want is out of stock?

Send us an e-mail at lily@meavotacandles.com and let us know which item you'd like to be notified for. We'll contact you first for restock. *Certain items are limited edition and will only drop once. First come first served! *Seasonal items will appear once every season and are on a first come first served basis.

How do I apply my discount code?

To apply your discount code, proceed to check out and enter the code in the "gift cards and discounts" field on the shipping page. Please note that discount codes cannot be stacked with other promotions or events. Discount codes are only eligible during their promoted period and cannot be extended before or after.

If I missed the sale or forgot to add the code, can I still access the discount?

Unfortunately we're unable to add discount codes or promotions to orders once the payment has been processed.

Why was my order cancelled?

Items from your order or your entire order may be cancelled if there are errors when verifying your billing information or if your item(s) have sold out. You won't be charged for any cancelled items. We'll notify you for the reason of cancellation.

Due to Covid-19 our partner carriers are experiencing delays. Please do not be discouraged; your candle will arrive when it is meant to arrive :) NOTE: Please be sure to check around for your package; some carriers leave packages in hidden places so it cannot be seen from the street. Check to see if someone else, like a neighbor or an Apartment Office Manager, accepted delivery on your behalf. DISCLAIMER: Mea Vota is a separate entity from shipping companies and cannot be held responsible for any delays in shipment. When will my order ship?

What is your return policy?

We want you to love our products as much as we do! If you aren't fully satisfied with your pick or experience, we'll gladly issue a refund or an exchange! Please reach out to lily@meavotacandles.com within 14 days of receiving your order with your order number and the items you would like exchanged/refunded, and we'll sort it out for you! Please note that shipping charges will not be refunded or credited, and that you will be responsible for the return shipment. Please allow some time for your refund to process. *All orders to the EU, UK and Australia are final sale. Our retail locations will not accept returns for online purchases. All returns will be credited to the original form of payment (excluding shipping and handling charges). If you paid with a Gift Card or E-Gift Card, a new E-Gift Card will be issued and emailed to you. All applicable promotions, discounts, offers, free items (as part of a qualifying purchase) and coupons granted at the time of purchase will be distributed and applied to the refund amount. Once the return is processed, we will send an email confirmation of your credit.

Where are Mea Vota products made?

Our products are made from home in Montréal!

How do I use the candles, and what products do I need as a beginner?

All you need is yourself! You may choose to follow the rituals provided with your candle and found on the rituals page, or you may create your own. (The magic comes from you!)

My candle has white patches. Is that normal?

Any candles containing soy wax will form white patches called frosting. They are completely normal and occur when soy mixes with oils. Due to temperature fluctuations, crystals will manifest in the wax. It is called polymorphism (the ability of an object to take on many forms). None of this will affect the performance of your candle. It is completely natural and only aesthetic!

My candles isn't lighting. What's the issue?

There are a few reasons why your candle may not be lighting. Luckily enough, it's an easy fix! Below are possible issue and solutions :) Tunneling: A depression tunnel may form if you don't give your candle enough time to develop a melted wax pool that covers the entire surface of your container. With each burn the tunnel will deepen until it becomes too deep for fresh oxygen to flow in. Your candle eventually won't light. How do we fix this?: Your wax has a memory, so give your candle enough burn time to develop a melted wax pool that goes all the way to the edge of the container. This can take up to a few hours depending on candle size. WICK ISSUES Wooden wicks burn a bit differently than traditional cotton wicks do. Here are a few problems that may arise if your wick is not well maintained: Wick Length: Wooden wicks must be kept short. Ideally you should trim your wick to approximately ¼ inch for an optimal burn. **MYTH BUSTING: The wood doesn't fuel the flame; Wax is what fuels the flame. The flame draws the wax upwards through the wick so if your wick is too long, the flame will not reach the wax. Wick Maintenance: Always remove charred bits before relighting your candle. Clean off any burnt wood from previous use. A clean wick means a clean and consistant burn. Drowning: Drowning occurs when there is too much wax surrounding your wick, causing it to extinguish the flame. How do we fix this?: Warm the wax around the wick with a lighter or match, then use paper towel or napkins to soak up excess wax. Wait for the wax to cool before relighting your candle. Repeat the process until your wick has room to breathe.

How do I care for my candle?

To prevent fire and serious injury: Do not leave candle unattended. Keep away from drafts and vibrations. Keep out of reach of children/pets. Never burn candle on or near anything that can catch fire. The jar is hot while candle is lit. Keep wick at ¼ inch and trim off charred bits before relighting. Only burn candle on level, fire resistant surfaces. To prevent tunneling, burn candle until pool reaches both sides. Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

What’s the difference between fragrance oils and essential oils?

Essential Oils’ are all natural. They're obtained directly from plants or plant parts. Fragrance Oils are manufactured in a lab from synthetically-made chemical scent compounds. They are composed of different aromatic substances. Burning synthetic fragrance oils in candles can potentially produce toxic chemical smoke vapor, however, synthetic does not always equal toxic. In order to be pet-safe we use minimal quantities of fragrance oils that are paraben-free and phthalate-free which makes them safer for you, the environment, and your little buddy!

Are your products vegan?

Mea Vota does not use animal products. None of our ingredients are tested on animals.

How do I dispose of the packaging products?

• Boxes and gift wrapping paper can be recycled •Our packing peanuts are biodegradable and decompose in water (simply put in sink and run water!) •Bubble wrap is thin plastic that can jam the equipment at recycling facilities. Place in a single bag that can be tied.
